HSBC is the largest trade finance organisation in the world, offering a comprehensive range of forward‑thinking open account supply chain and traditional trade solutions. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when it financed commerce between East and West. Today, HSBC’s Global Trade Solutions (GTS) business is the leading international trade bank and has been recognised by the industry’s most prominent publications and associations for its strength in combining innovation and service excellence with end‑to‑end customer solutions.

The Opportunity

The GTS Americas Head of Implemenation is accountable for end‑to‑end delivery of complex Trade solutions for Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) clients across the Americas. The role will have oversight for all Product and Channel on‑boarding across GTS in the Americas, working in close collaboratrion with Coverage, Sales and Services teams. The individual will need to be both technically savvy and commercially astute, capable of effectively managing a diverse range of functional stakeholders (i.e. Technology, Compliance, Legal, Risk etc.) across a large and geographically diverse organisation in order to deliver complex Open Account and Traditional Trade structures as part part of the end‑to‑end Product fulfilment lifecycle. Time-to-Revenue, Delivery & Commercial Risk mitigation all represent key performance metrics in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Americas GTS Implementation organisation, establishing clear priorities, delivery standards, performance expectations and accountability
  • Provide senior delivery and subject‑matter expertise for complex open account and traditional trade implementations, including payables and receivables finance solutions
  • Translate client requirements into practical, commercially viable implementation strategies aligned with product capabilities and the client’s broader business objectives
  • Drive momentum from deal approval through to go‑live by coordinating stakeholders, removing blockers and ensuring delivery remains aligned with agreed timelines and commercial objectives
  • Ensure a controlled and effective transition from implementation into business‑as‑usual ownership
  • Define and document robust implementation plans, including scope, milestones, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, assumptions and responsibilities
  • Maintain clear alignment throughout delivery, using appropriate governance, documentation and change‑control processes
  • Oversee integration, configuration, connectivity, testing, operational readiness and go‑live activities across relevant HSBC and client environments
  • Coordinate Technology, Operations, Product, Sales, Coverage, Services, Compliance, Legal, Risk and other stakeholders to deliver outcomes efficiently
  • Monitor delivery performance and provide transparent reporting on progress, risks, dependencies, issues, decisions and expected revenue realisation
  • Promote a culture of disciplined programme and project leadership in a client‑facing delivery environment
  • Build strong engagement, inclusion and professional development across the team, creating an environment in which diverse perspectives are valued and people can perform at their best
  • Ensure implementation activity is delivered within approved scope, risk appetite, control requirements and commercial parameters
  • Challenge assumptions and manage dependencies proactively to reduce execution risk and avoid avoidable delays or rework

Experience:

  • Significant experience—typically 10 or more years—in a client‑facing implementation, transformation, programme delivery or solutions‑delivery environment, preferably within global financial services
  • Extensive experience in commercial banking, transaction banking or relationship management, with strong knowledge of Trade and Receivables Finance
  • Detailed understanding of open account solutions, including payables finance, receivables finance and related supply chain finance structures
  • Strong knowledge of traditional trade products and the broader Global Trade market, including relevant industry trends and evolving client expectations
  • Proven experience leading complex, multi‑workstream programmes across a global or regional organisation
  • Demonstrated expertise in client‑facing technology delivery, systems architecture, integration, configuration, connectivity, testing and operational readiness
  • Experience working with enterprise resource planning and accounts payable environments, including SAP and Oracle, would be valuable
  • Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end customer journey, from acquisition and solution design through implementation, adoption and ongoing client management
  • Experience managing delivery, operational, commercial, technology and regulatory risk in a controlled environment
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high‑performing teams across countries, functions and cultures
  • Highly developed communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Ability to design and define solutions that create value for clients while meeting HSBC’s product, risk, control and commercial requirements
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, with the resilience to manage challenging circumstances while maintaining delivery pace and quality
  • A track record of executing strategy and converting complex objectives into measurable outcomes

As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow. We offer a competitive pay package in a welcoming and inclusive work environment. You will be empowered to drive HSBC’s engagement with the communities we serve through an industry‑leading volunteerism policy, a generous matching gift program, and a comprehensive program of immersive Sustainability and Climate Change Initiatives.
