Salary range : $125,000–$150,000 base salary per year, depending on experience and qualifications

Workplace type : This is a fully remote position with a hybrid option. All applicants must live within a commutable distance of Panama City, FL or Jacksonville, FL to be considered.

What you will be doing:

\n
• Managing tax and accounting engagements from assignment through completion, including client communication, staff assignments, budgets, and deadlines
\n
• Preparing and reviewing complex individual, corporate, partnership, trust, nonprofit, and tangible personal property tax returns
\n
• Overseeing client accounting work, including account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, general ledger review, and financial statement preparation
\n
• Preparing and reviewing tax planning projections and identifying planning opportunities for individuals and business owners
\n
• Reviewing staff work for accuracy, completeness, and supporting documentation, and providing clear, actionable feedback
\n
• Supervising, training, and developing team members while managing workloads and keeping engagements moving forward
\n
• Conducting tax research and documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations
\n
• Managing responses to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices
\n
• Serving as a primary client contact and explaining tax and accounting matters clearly
\n
• Assisting with business development, including prospective client meetings, fee quotes, proposals, and evaluating service needs
\n
• Working with firm leadership to improve processes, engagement profitability, and client service
\n
• Managing consulting and special projects as requested by management and clients
\n

What qualifications we are looking for:

\n
• 7+ years of progressive experience working for a CPA firm, including at least 2 years supervising staff and reviewing work
\n
• Licensed CPA or EA certification (preferred)
\n
• Extensive knowledge of individual, corporate, and partnership taxation, including multistate returns
\n
• Strong accounting skills, including reviewing financial statements, reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries
\n
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage client relationships, engagements, budgets, and deadlines
\n
• Experience training staff, providing constructive feedback, and following through on performance expectations
\n
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
\n
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
\n
• Ability to take ownership, exercise sound judgment, and recognize when an issue needs additional input
\n
• Experience with UltraTax (required), QuickBooks Online (required), Workpapers CS (preferred), Planner CS (preferred), and Karbon (preferred)
\n
